The Valiant Life - DRAPES S/S 2012 Trunk Show April 13th

Dovetail is proud to host the DRAPES S/S 2012 launch next Friday, April 13th from 7pm-10pm! Ashley Scott, the brains and beauty behind the jewels, was inspired by bold, confident, street-savy women who translated into a melody of wood, pyrite, and dyed fringe. Wearable with any outfit, this collection is presented in neutral and natural tones. “This collection embodies the Drapes wearer,” Drapes says, ”Raw and simply valiant.”

This jewelry trunk show is not to be missed! The line will be exclusively available at Dovetail the weekend of April 13th - April 15th for purchase before the online release. DRAPES has been featured in publications like Harpar’s Bazaar, Timeout Chicago, Elle.com, and Refinery29.

Come for drinks, snacks, and a Past-Life Reading with Ryan from The Ruby Room. Vinejoy visits Dovetail!

Last night, our friends at Vinejoy provided a complimentary wine tasting for all of our friends and customers at the shop. With years of grape expertise, Ian served the best current trending California whites and reds to shoppers and West Town dwellers. We will surely bring out more of these bottles at our next party.

Vintage Bollywood Inspiration

Julie wore a vintage Indian wedding dress yesterday and dressed it way down with burgundy tights, Frye ankle boots, and a denim jacket. Indian fashions are so much fun when contrasted with modern, urban pieces.

This 1960s video for Bollywood song Jan Pehchan Ho by Mohammed Rafi is pretty stellar and can provide tons of inspiration for clothes, hair, and dance moves. Enjoy!

Frei Designs Spring Lookbook

Our very own Leslie Bembinster modeled for our favorite local designer’s spring12 lookbook. How lovely is everything? From Frei’s designs, to Foxglove Studio’s floral headpiece, to Ina Weiss’ (our July/August artist) geometric backdrop.

It’s Almost Spring Event

Spring is in the air at Dovetail, and what’s blooming is a sale, whimsical artwork, rockin’ jewelry, and a little mysticism to boot! On Friday, March 2 (7pm - 10pm), Dovetail hosts It’s Almost Spring, an event with a lot of local love. If you’re into visual art, get lost in dreamy paintings and prints by Chicago artist, Shawn Stucky. If you’re more into wearable art than visual art, check out local jewelry designer Kristen Davis Molenhouse’s spring ‘12 launch for her line of edgy yet refined jewelry, GlamRocks. If something you see throughout the evening conjures a déjà vu moment, let past life reader, Ryan Fukuda, investigate that for you—he’ll be offering free mini readings throughout the night. Whether you were a sailor, a muse, or a poet in your last life, one thing’s for sure: your current-life incarnation will love taking advantage of 20% off clothing and housewares while enjoying free booze and snacks. Can’t beat that!

March/April Artist: Shawn Stucky

Shawn Stucky is a prolific artist whose work can be found throughout Chicago. He holds an international following, with high-profile repeat clients such as Sigur Ros and director Steven Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness). Recently, he designed the cover art for Chicago author Franki Elliot’s book, Piano Rats. He also makes handcrafted wood glasses with Scott Urban of Urban Spectacles. He’s an incredibly talented person and we’re really lucky to have his art at Dovetail. Stucky’s art will be for sale at Dovetail from March 2 through April 8.  Opening reception: Friday March 2, 7pm to 10pm.

March Trunk Show: GlamRocks Jewelry

Kristen Davis Molenhouse is launching her spring/summer 2012 line for GlamRocks Jewelry at Dovetail on March 2, 7pm to 10pm. Molenhouse leverages her background in interior design to make handcrafted jewelry with sterling silver, minerals, and stones. Molenhouse describes her jewelry as “pieces that combine natural beauty, glamour, and rock n’ roll.”  She draws inspiration from modern design/architecture as well as natural colors and textures. GlamRocks Jewelry will be available for purchase for the duration of the weekend trunk show, ending on Sunday March 4 at 5pm.
